Why Nest

A roof can provide shelter.
But people also need somewhere they belong.

Food, shelter, healthcare and education are fundamental. But wellbeing also grows through relationships, dignity, participation, purpose and the feeling that our presence matters.

Care should help people participate in life—not merely receive services.

Reciprocity

Both can receive.
Both can give.

What if we stopped looking at these generations only through what they need?

Children

Can receive

Guidance
Stories & skills
Attention
Nurturing relationships

Can give

Curiosity
Energy
Creativity
New perspectives

Elders

Can receive

Companionship
Participation
Affection
A sense of purpose

Can give

Experience
Stories
Skills
Patience & guidance

Everyone has something to give.

A Nest is not simply a place where people receive care. It is a place where people can matter to one another.

The Two-Generation Family Model

Care • Connect • Nurture • Flourish

From receiving care to participating in life.

Care

Safety & dignity

Connect

Relationships & belonging

Nurture

Learning & growth

Flourish

Purpose & contribution

Receive→Connect→Learn→Participate→Contribute

Family-like connection, responsibly created. NEST does not seek to replace a child’s biological or legal family, nor an elder’s existing family relationships. Meaningful bonds must grow through safe, respectful, supported opportunities.

The vision has a place

This is where
the First Nest begins.

Mau, Uttar Pradesh

We’re starting with one place rather than making promises about many.

The foundation exists. The land is secured. Our next challenge is turning a vision into a safe, functional place where intergenerational community can begin.

Why we are building Nest

The question that started an intergenerational experiment in belonging: could bringing generations into meaningful shared life create something both were missing?

Follow the people, ideas, land, learning and decisions behind the First Nest.
